• Switzerland has its own uMap instance now.

As previously announced, this 100th instance of the OSM weekly means that the contributions to this project by Pascal and Dennis come to an end. • The State of the Map EU took place in Karlsruhe, Germany last weekend. The OSM wiki provides a list of links to the session videos and slides. A big thanks to all the attendees and supporters!
• The “final” version of the local chapter agreement has been published.
• The OSMF board is aware about the “Google awarded patent on automatic correction of road geometry from imagery“.
• The new version of the OSM editor iD enables “Simple Editing for Turn Restrictions in OSM“.
• And again a neat usage of OSM data: “Pints in the Sun – Find a pub near you that won’t be in the shade“.
• “Really important summary about the issues of changing OSM tags …” via SK53onOSM. Also, other active osm-carto work: Unifying landuse lightness or Working on rendering of place tags when on areas.
• “Welcome to OpenStreetMap Telangana!” by Abhishek Nagaraj.
• “MapRoulette now features a selection of challenges based in Italy http://www.maproulette.org” via Simone Cortesi.

• Bjørn Sandvik wrote a tutorial on how to show “Instagram photos and videos on a Leaflet map“.

• The next State of the Map will take place in Buenos Aires. You can find the latest news on their twitter account.
• The Brazilian OSM community mapped several World Soccer Cup stadiums during a Marathon. Results are available here.
• The Humanitarian OSM Team (HOT) won the German Wikipedia:Zedler-Preis. More information is unfortunately only available in German. They also tested a new system for imagery requests coordination.
• Susanna Ånäs wrote a blog post about the “Maps at the Zürich hackathon“.
• The National Park Service created its own “Park Tiles” based on OSM data. Read more in their article.
• A new version of the Wheelmap app for android has been released.
• A new piece of software named OSMTimeLapseR can create a visualization of your OSM edits.
• Stefano Cudini published an online GPX track optimizer service.
• Abhishek Nagaraj wrote a short script for “Extracting Data from OSM History Files Using the *New* Osmium“. He also tried to automatically identify imports in OSM data.
• “we see 58% of content in 5 countries!“

• The well-known Taginfo system, for finding and aggregating information about OSM tags, got some updates.
• The new Community Guidelines need your review and comments, read more here.
• Due to the increase of organizations and businesses that are mapping in OSM, the DWG is evaluating whether it is necessary to issue guidelines for organizational editing. You can read more here.
• What should be the role and strategy of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) in the next few years? Also the HOT needs your help and created several tasks regarding the floods in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
• There have been several news reports in the past few days about routing apps or services which use OSM data: GpsTicker3 is a new bike navigation app for Android. Also new releases of GraphHopper and the Open Source Routing Machine have been published.
• CartoDB opened an office in Berlin with Jan Marsch (creator of OSM Buildings).
• Some JOSM mapping tips for squaring buildings.
• OSM contributor Zverik created a mapnik-to-image exporting script.

• Simon Poole talked about the fairly unknown fix-the-map webpage, which is a welcome page for new OSM members and mappers.
• The “last” open OSM bug has been closed. Many bugs have been moved to the OSM notes system.
• Osmlab on github provides the functionality to add your own “Local OSM Groups“.
• The working groups of the Humanitarian OSM Team (HOT) are going to be rebooted. Also Rafael Avila Coya plans a data import for his HOT activities for eHealth Africa in Kano, Nigeria. Read more here.
• “OpenStreetMap and the Open Data Movement” by Simon Poole.
• Richard Fairhurst wrote a blog post about “Building cycle.travel’s bike directions with OSRM“.
• A new version of GNOME Maps will be published soon. It is a simple map application developed in javascript, using the Gjs bindings and OSM map data.
• The openhistoricalmap.org has been updated to the latest OSM code base. See an example of New York 1854.
• Ilya Zverev and “Grouping Mapnik’s labels“.

• The program of the SotM-EU in Karlsruhe, Germany (June 13th-15) is online now. Get your early bird tickets here.
• All videos of the SotM US 2014 are online.
• DigitalGlobe announced that they will bring “timely and relevant imagery to OpenStreetMap” implemented in the popular OSM editors iD or JOSM.
• Ilya Zverev created a new browser-based OSM editor called: Level0.
• Slide is an OSM iD editor add-on to optimize line mapping with GPS data.
• The OSM Inspector address view (which checks for misspelled addresses or addresses without matching roads) is now available world-wide.
• BBBike.org now also offers SRTM data downloads in OSM pbf file format.
• The OSM Stack: A mind map visualization by Christophe Rodier.
• Jue Yang, Kate Chapman and Chris Henrik worked on a new and better “HOT OSM Export Tool” during the SotM US. You can read more about their results here.

• The new tool “OsmHydrant” by Robert Koch simplifies the process of adding and editing hydrants in OSM.
• Chrill Hill wrote a blog post on how you can use/create historical map overlays for OSM.
• Harry Wood created a video about “Updating the Olympic Park in OpenStreetMap“.
• OSM contributor ybon added GeoRSS support on uMap. He is also working on a Heatmap made for uMap. What is uMap?
• Quattroshapes offers OSM boundary downloads for different administrative levels.

• If you want your city, state or country to have better OSM data, you need more local mappers. Some important suggestions by Richard Weait.
• The Humanitarian OSM Team (HOT) wrote an overview article about the “2014 West Africa Ebola Outbreak Response“.
• In 29 hours 68 contributors mapped the entire city of Mamou (20,105 buildings), the center of the Ebola outbreak.
• Jorieke wrote a report about a mapping week in Lubumbashi in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
• OpenAddresses has been launched: “The free and open, global address collection“.
• OSM contributor Zverik about “A year with imagery offset database“.
• Chris Fleming and “Android Apps for Mapping“.
• Andy Allan published a few screenshots from his new Lightning tile-server.
• The University of Heidelberg organized an OSM workshop for children.

• The OSM project has been recognized by the Free Software Foundation Europe with the Document Freedom Day Award 2014.
• The HOT has an emergency request to map Guinea Conakry – Gueckedou, Macenta, Kissidougou. You can read more in the initial mailing list post and on the OSM wiki page.
• Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) has published an “Open data for resilience initiative – Field Guide” and mentioned the important role of OSM and HOT for disaster management.
• A new version of MapRoulette has been launched. It is a gamified approach to fixing OSM bugs that breaks common OSM data problems into micro tasks.
• mkmap, who created OSM Garmin maps, received a major routing upgrade. Read the full announcement.
• OSM iD editor usability study: Looking for test persons.
• The upcoming FOSS4G-Europe conference will take place at the Jacobs-University in Bremen, Germany.
• OSM Switzerland created its own OSM map style which is also available on github.
• Severin Menard is a new member of the HOT OSM board and he wrote a blog post about his latest activities.
• Richard Weait wrote a blog post about “Courtyards! Multipolygon Relations in OpenStreetMap“.
• OSM contributor Stalfur described how he mapped Botswana via Facebook.
• The weather radar screens at the Melbourne Formula1 Grand Prix used OSM.
• OSM contributor RoadLessTraveled reviewed different tools for “Quickly Mapping Stores & Street Numbers w Android“.
