As a cartographer I would have taken a different approach. I would have created a map (8 seperate maps) for each burger-chain in exactly the same color and post them side by side for comparison. I might enhance the maps with US state boundaries. There is one thing structural wrong with the map, McDonalds is in dominant black without "glow" while the others glow out but are less visible due to the light colors. It is also harder to distinguish the light colors.The image makes a pretty picture indeed, but it shares no clear marketing information.
